Across the country in the 90s

During the 1980s and 90s, Design Photography owner Peter Strand embarked on extensive travels across the United States, fulfilling various dance contracts. It was during this period that he developed a profound love for photography.

He began to artfully capture his colleagues in motion and even created a series of insightful self-portraits. His portfolio includes dynamic shots of dancers from the Oakland Ballet and the Lexington Ballet, alongside mesmerizing fire dancers in Nashville. These iconic images were often set against the breathtaking landscapes of Cottonwood Pass, Colorado; Arches National Monument, Utah; the Great Sand Dunes, Colorado; and the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah. These images were caught with an old school Nikon FM (fully manual) film camera with no autofocus.
